RR Spink & Sons

The RR Spink & Son family story is set in Northeast Scotland, in ancient fishing centres like Auchmithie and Arbroath. Family ancestors have earned their living from the sea since the time of the Vikings.

In the beginning, the family was the business: father and sons fished, mother and daughters cared for the fishing gear, cleaned, preserved and sold the fish and took care of the money!

Over the years, RR Spink became more and more of a business; not just fisher folk, but fishmongers, large scale fish merchants, commercial fish smokers and curers.

The Spink name became known far beyond Scotland. Now, after five generations as a family business, it is still keeping traditions like the Arbroath Smokie alive, still handing on all that has been learned. After all, those with salt water in their veins, don't give up the sea completely!
